Book Winch Trailers

For the job a regular trailer can't do: moving a vehicle that won't drive onto the deck.

When you need a winch

A dead battery, a blown engine, a transmission that won't shift, a project car that hasn't moved in years. If you can't drive it up the ramps, and you don't have enough people to push it, a winch does the work. Renters have used ours to bring a dead 1980s Ford truck from Colorado to Kansas City.

How it compares to a tow

A tow gets one vehicle from one place to another. A winch trailer stays with you for the whole rental, so you can load on your schedule and go as far as you need. There's no mileage cap, and the trailer can cross state lines within the US.

Before you load

The vehicle has to be able to roll, or you'll need to deal with locked wheels first. Put a person at the winch control, keep everyone clear of the cable, and strap the vehicle down before you move. Read our guide to loading a dead car.

Frequently Asked Questions

How strong is the winch?

Each car hauler has a 12,000 lb electric winch mounted at the front of the deck.

Can I rent the winch trailer for a one-way out-of-state pickup?

You can take it out of state with no mileage cap, as long as it stays in the US. It comes back to the same spot it left from, so plan your rental window around the round trip.
